Before founding Reiki for Life and Spirit in 2003, Karen’s profession was high-tech marketing for 15 years, with an M.B.A. in Marketing from Boston College and a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University, where she also studied piano and music.
She was a devoted caregiver to her partner, Jimmy, who battled colon cancer twice and passed away on August 21, 2000. Watching Jimmy deteriorate while receiving a triple-dose of chemotherapy and radiation treatments increased her sensitivity to pain and suffering and changed her life.
After seeking Reiki for relief from grieving, job stress and related ailments, Karen quickly sought certification in Reiki in 2002 to perform hands-on healing and distance healing in 2003. She recently made the decision to leave the software industry, determined to provide relief for those in pain and others seeking improvement in their quality of life. Karen facilitates remarkable results for her clients – helping them achieve their desired goals and restoring their health and well-being.
A certified Reiki Master, and member of the International Reiki Association, Karen was featured on WBOQ 104.9 FM’s “North Shore Issues” and local cable program, “Natural Health Today.” Karen is a member of the Beverly Chamber of Commerce and serves as chairperson of the cancer control committee for American Cancer Society’s fund-raiser, Relay For Life, in Peabody, MA.
Karen enjoys working with clients of all ages, including the senior population. She has offered “Pain-Relief Clinics” at Harborlight House assisted living in Beverly, Beverly Council on Aging and Peabody Council on Aging. Karen has offered her services at the “Retreats to Renew” in Harvard, MA for women with breast cancer, as well as the Beverly Heart Walk.
