Migraine
I am 89 years old, and I reside at an assisted living facility. I have suffered excruciating migraine headaches every day for the past 40 years of my life. I have taken several medications including Fioricet, but after so many years, they have become ineffective.
One day, Karen Majalian came to Harborlight House to give Reiki demonstrations. I was reluctant to try it and waited for a few of the other residents to try it first. Karen finally took me by the hand and sat me down in a chair and I’m so glad she did. I had this particular migraine every day for the past two weeks. Karen spent 20 minutes placing her hands on my head and other parts of my body. I was completely relaxed and when I opened my eyes, I smiled a big smile and told her, “I just can’t believe it – my headache is gone!” It has been a miracle just to wake up mornings without a migraine.
Since that day, Karen has returned to give me a few more Reiki treatments. If I have a headache, the Reiki gives me immediate relief and I am so relaxed. It has only been six weeks since my first session and I’ve noticed that my headaches are dull and less frequent, without the intense, throbbing pain that I had grown accustomed to. The pain is reduced and it is my hope to get rid of them altogether with the Reiki. I feel so much better – both mentally and physically. It really works!
